Mayor Glenn Odom told council members he spoke with college representatives who said the annexation clears the way for them to schedule construction bids after they receive one remaining survey from surveyor Earl Horton. "They are waiting for one more survey from Earl Horton, and they will schedule a bid to go ahead and bid for the college," Odom said, adding, "we will be seeing something before long." No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The ordinance was considered on its second reading; after the public-hearing portion produced no comments, council moved to a vote and approved the annexation 5–0. The annexed acreage was described in meeting materials and on the record by its tax-map numbers. The council did not specify a construction timeline beyond the need for the outstanding survey and subsequent bidding process.
The annexation is intended to bring the NETC campus within town limits. Town officials did not provide further details on infrastructure plans, financing, or specific bid dates at the meeting. The council will proceed with whatever administrative steps are required now that the ordinance has passed.
The council adjourned after hearing a series of other town updates and reports.
