They ordered the building," he told the council and said he expects the project to take roughly three to four months, after which the town will hold a dedication.
The mayor asked that the full Town Council attend the brief ground‑breaking — "It will be a brief 10‑minute thing just digging a little bit" — and said the Link will cover the event and take photographs. He also said the town has invited state representatives and a senator to attend.
The council did not take a separate vote on the contract at the March 4 meeting; the update was provided as a status report and timeline for the project.
The ground breaking sets an on‑site milestone for a project officials say is intended to expand community programming and indoor recreation capacity. The council said it will announce a dedication once construction is complete.
