The Ridgefield School District board approved a security consulting contract and reviewed the district's Period 2 School Safety Data Report during its Sept. 19 meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Anemone recommended re-engaging Stonegate Associates, which conducted a district security audit about 10 years ago, to provide updated guidance, recommendations and a plan to enhance safety across district schools. The board approved a $7,100 contract with Stonegate Associates for the 2024–25 school year as part of the consent agenda.
Dr. Anemone presented the School Safety Data Report for the Jan.–Jun. 2024 reporting window: 19 reported incidents at Ridgefield Memorial High School (RMHS), 0 reported incidents at Bergen, 1 reported incident at Shaler and 8 incidents at Slocum/Skewes. The board voted to accept the Period 2 report.
Board members also discussed facilities coordination: Dr. Anemone and Business Administrator Kelvin Hiciano will meet with the borough to plan repairs to Willis Field; the district and borough intend to share repair costs. The board heard updates on ongoing operations projects, including an ESIP-related solar installation at Bergen expected to finish in January 2025.
Next steps: Stonegate Associates is to be engaged to perform the consulting work as approved; the business administrator and superintendent will follow up with the borough on Willis Field scheduling and cost-sharing.
