Toledo council approves consent agenda, reviews claims totaling $283,291.70 and payroll

The Toledo City Council approved its consent agenda at the regular meeting on May 27, 2025, adopting minutes from previous meetings and authorizing payment of invoices and payroll listed in the claims report. Councilmember Vesley moved to approve the consent agenda and Councilmember Cook seconded; all present voiced ayes and the motion carried.
The clerk’s claims report listed invoices paid from May 13 through May 27, 2025 in the amount of $283,291.70 and payroll of $37,368.97. Notable listed items included a $80,062.50 payment on the UMB Series 2013A GO Bond, a $75,565.00 sewer 2013B principal/interest payment, and $40,937.24 for city insurance premiums. The minutes also record building permits 2025-11 (304 Commercial St., fiber installation) and 2025-23 (118 Business Hwy 30 W, Mediacom fiber relocation), and cigarette/tobacco permits for Designer Inn & Suites, Hy-Vee Dollar Fresh Market, Twin Town Liquor and Jiffy #931.
Under new business, a requested street closure for the Toledo Legion had no representative present and Councilmember Pansegrau moved to table that item until the next meeting; Goodhart seconded and the motion carried. Council discussed proposed Reinig contract language and determined to use 90-day language; the clerk was directed to include that language and return the contract to the council for approval at the June 9, 2025 meeting.
There were no items of old business. Mayor Brian Sokol presided; the council adjourned at 5:36 p.m. The minutes were attested by Mayor Brian Sokol and City Clerk Kim McAdoo.
