The Ridgefield Board of Education unanimously approved a broad consent agenda at its Nov. 14 meeting that included budget transfers, grant applications, vendor agreements and an athletic cooperative with a neighboring district.
Board members voted to approve monthly finance items including minutes, the November bill list and cash and secretary reports. The board authorized October budget transfers totaling $60,883.40 and certified business-administrator financial statements in compliance with N.J.A.C. 6:23-2.11 and N.J.S.A. 18A:22-8.1/8.2.
The board approved two LearnWell agreements to provide remote instructional services for resident students at a contracted rate of $60.75 per hour (administrative/prep fees and date ranges are listed in the board resolutions), and a Silvergate Prep homebound instruction agreement for a resident student at $29.46 per hour covering specified retroactive dates.
Administratively, the district authorized Pomptonian Food Services to apply for the 2024 National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant (retroactive to Oct. 30, 2024) and accepted a $2,000 Nike Uniform Grant to support the Girls Flag Football program.
On operations and contracts, the board extended Inshore Services as vision-benefits administrator for a 12-month term starting Jan. 1, 2025, and approved amendment #1 to the 2024-25 IDEA consolidated grant to budget a carryover of $175,427. The board also approved sale and recycling of district technology devices and a list of fundraisers for the 2024-25 school year.
Athletics approvals included establishing a cooperative sports program with the Cliffside Park Board of Education for football and wrestling for the 2024-25 school year, with renewals approved through 2026-27 under NJSIAA rules; the board also approved the use of the GoFan digital ticketing platform for athletic and school-event ticket sales this school year.
All motions reported in the consent agenda passed by roll call with the four listed members recorded as voting "Yea": Lori Hoffman, Michael Jacobs, Claudia Narvaez and Rafal Szumilo. Several items were presented as single consent motions; where individual contracts or grants were enumerated in the agenda, the board approved the full list as presented.
The actions move forward operational priorities such as facility work (Willis Field shared-service agreement to be addressed separately at the Dec. 12 meeting), student services continuity (homebound and remote instruction contracts) and modest grant-funded supports for extracurriculars and cafeteria equipment.
