Riverside Township board adopts 2024–25 district and board goals

The Riverside Township Board of Education on July 11 unanimously adopted the district and board goals for the 2024–25 school year after a presentation by district staff.
Superintendent-level staff members M. Adams and Ms. Saia presented the District Goals, which the board approved without objection. The district goals call for (1) ‘‘diverse, relevant, engaging learning’’ that incorporates students’ cultures and languages; (2) ‘‘academic growth and excellence for all’’ through stronger instructional programming, teacher training and greater use of data to target interventions; and (3) ‘‘positive and productive culture and climate’’ with an emphasis on communication, expanded student programming, positive behavior supports and mentoring.
The board’s three governance goals direct the board to support Year 2 expansion of the RHS Learning Academies into the community and to pursue Blue Ribbon levels of growth by backing programs, resources and processes aimed at measurable improvement. A third board goal emphasizes sustaining the district’s positive culture through collaboration and visible participation.
Board members voted on the goals as a package; motions were made by Mrs. Sierra and seconded by Mrs. R. Wrice and carried unanimously. The board recorded no dissent during discussion.
The adopted goals will guide planning and budgeting for the coming year and were presented during the meeting’s opening agenda items; the board did not set additional, itemized implementation deadlines at the July 11 session.
