Riverside board signs off on vaccine clinic, medical shadowing and new internships and mentoring

The board retroactively authorized an additional clinic night (Oct. 21, 2024, 5–6 p.m.) in the middle/high school cafeteria to provide mandated vaccines to sixth-grade students who missed the earlier session. The vote was unanimous.
Administrators also presented a proposed Medical Explorers program that will permit interested seniors to shadow medical professionals at Cooper Hospital; Ms. DiLuzio will lead the program with support from Mrs. Gatti and Mrs. Westrich. The board approved the partnership to expand career-exploration opportunities.
The board approved first steps toward a Del‑Riv Sports Management internship to give students hands-on experience in management, social media and operations. It also approved initial organization of the BOOST mentoring pilot (Boys Optimizing Opportunities for Success and Transformation), coordinated by alumnus Barry Mitsch; BOOST’s final approval is contingent on completion of a formal agreement and documentation.
All actions passed unanimously as routine business; the board packet outlines program leads and next-step documentation requirements.
