Board approves tuition contracts for homeless students and two $1,000 scholarships

The Riverside Township Board of Education on Nov. 14 approved tuition agreements for three high-school homeless students and established two annual $1,000 scholarships.
The board approved a contract with Rancocas Valley Regional High School for two students at $18,181 per pupil (total $36,362) and a separate tuition agreement with Burlington City School District for one student at the same per-pupil rate. In a related sending-district entry, the board approved a $17,157 tuition amount for another sending arrangement with Rancocas Valley Regional High School.
Separately, the board approved the Robert Krisciunas Scholarship, to award $1,000 to a graduating Riverside High School senior choosing a social sciences major, and the Barbara Krisciunas Scholarship, a $1,000 award for a student majoring in physical education, physical therapy or athletic training. Both scholarship funds were approved unanimously.
The tuition approvals and scholarships were approved as part of routine business by roll-call vote; the motions were moved and seconded by board members and carried without opposition.
