Middleville council approves Bradford White fundraiser and Heritage Days beverage tent, contingent on state licensing

The Middleville Village Council on Aug. 26 approved two community-event items: a breast-cancer awareness fundraiser proposed by Bradford White’s women’s network and an amendment to Heritage Days that would permit a fenced beverage tent and close Main Street for event activities.
Kayn Greg, who identified herself as an HR employee at Bradford White, told council the event would start and finish at the Bradford White site and run along the Paul Henry Trail, with all proceeds to benefit the Vanandal Institute. She said organizers will coordinate insurance and law-enforcement details. The council moved and approved the event after confirming insurance and asking organizers to contact police about any road or safety needs.
On Heritage Days, Doug Powers explained that a Rotary group has applied for state licensing to serve beer in a fenced tent on the north side of the pavilion and that closing Main Street would allow the car show to be staged on Main Street rather than the parking lot. Council members approved the amendment "contingent on approval of the proper licensing and any feedback that Sergeant Wearer might have about closing Main Street," and noted that the tent would be fenced and staffed per state requirements.
Council discussed placement of kid-friendly activities and flow through the event area; staff said the tent would be located away from the children's activity area. Council approved both items with general support and voice votes.
The Heritage Days amendment carried with the condition that state liquor licensing and any law-enforcement concerns be resolved before alcohol is served. Event organizers and the village will finalize logistics and post any required permits once state approvals are received.
