Staff updates commissioners on comprehensive plan progress and East Argent Parkway improvements

Staff provided updates on the comprehensive plan work and local transportation projects at the May 17 meeting. Staff said the comprehensive‑plan existing‑conditions memo will be posted soon, the public survey has been closed for analysis and consultants are drafting vision and goal statements. The new senior planner, Javier Barrera, was introduced to the commission.
Staff also said East Argent Parkway is paved but will remain closed to full traffic until safety improvements—striping, drainage work and turn‑lane completion—are finished. Several commissioners discussed DOT projects, exit improvements, and an upcoming public meeting on 278 improvements scheduled May 20 and May 21. Staff urged commissioners to review improvement plans and notified them of a city 'boards and commissions' thank‑you event.
The chair adjourned the meeting after public announcements.
