Residents raise zoning and code-enforcement concerns; township attorney says old cases cannot be reopened

At the Weymouth Township Committee meeting Oct. 2, residents raised continuing concerns about zoning and code enforcement and asked the committee for follow-up.
Joe Landy, identified as from Oaks of Weymouth, told the committee he had sent a letter about his home to Hometown America’s corporate office and said he received only a returned certified-mail receipt. Mike and Erin Kelly of 11th Avenue and a resident identified as Dorothy described ongoing neighbor-related zoning and code-enforcement problems; the Kellys said a violation had been issued even though a prior valid permit is in place, and said they felt the zoning/code officer was retaliating against them for persisting with complaints.
Township Attorney Emanuel Sanfilippo responded that old court cases could not be reopened, and said the proper course is for officials to issue new violations when appropriate and to follow up on them. He also noted that the township is planning future changes to zoning and code enforcement procedures.
The committee opened and closed the public-comment period by unanimous motion (Norton/Keiffenheim) and acknowledged the complaints on the record. No immediate administrative actions beyond the attorney’s guidance were recorded in the meeting minutes.
