West Amwell Committee appoints CFO, interim public works manager and stormwater coordinator; approves several routine measures

At its Jan. 21 meeting the West Amwell Township Committee appointed Peter J. Suh as chief financial officer, named Van Cleef Engineering as interim principal public works manager, designated a stormwater program coordinator, and approved multiple administrative resolutions including a vehicle repair contract.
The West Amwell Township Committee on Jan. 21 appointed Peter J. Suh as Chief Financial Officer effective Jan. 14, 2026, for a four-year statutory term and an annual salary of $50,000, the committee recorded in Resolution #40-2026. The appointment was adopted by roll call vote with all members voting yes.
The committee also approved Resolution #38-2026 to appoint Van Cleef Engineering as the township’s interim temporary Principal Public Works Manager. The firm will serve until an in-house candidate meets the statutory certification requirements. The appointment was made as a non-fair-and-open contract and approved unanimously by voice vote.
In a separate vote the committee named Robert S. O’Brien of Van Cleef Engineering Associates as the township’s Stormwater Program Coordinator to assist municipal departments in complying with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s municipal stormwater management requirements (Resolution #41-2026). That motion passed unanimously.
On purchasing and operations items, the committee awarded a quote for transmission repair on police patrol vehicle unit 26-12 to Hunterdon Transmission in the amount of $4,600 after reviewing five quotes; the CFO certified sufficient funds (Resolution #39-2026). The committee also adopted Resolution #08-2026 setting 2026 tax collection dates (Feb. 1, May 1, Aug. 1 and Nov. 1), interest rates and administrative fees, including a returned-check fee set at $20 as required by statute.
Several personnel and technical appointments were approved, including the Plumbing and Mechanical Subcode Official and Inspector and the part-time Electrical Subcode Official; some appointment resolutions recorded abstentions by Committeeman Brian Fitting on the voice votes. The committee noted Resolution #42-2026 (a settlement agreement with Fair Share Housing Center) would be discussed in closed session.
The committee entered closed session under Resolution #47-2026 to discuss pending litigation, personnel matters and attorney-client privileged matters; the meeting adjourned at 12:03 a.m.
