The Hartsville City Council presented a proclamation on Dec. 9 recognizing Casey Hancock for his mayoral service and local projects enumerated in the proclamation.
The proclamation listed actions attributed to Hancock’s term, including efforts on historic cemetery protection, park upgrades, downtown infrastructure and securing federal and EPA grants tied to revitalization projects. It also cited partnerships with local technical colleges and work on a reserve fund policy described in the proclamation.
Accepting the recognition, Hancock thanked council members and staff and described the work as a collaborative effort. "Your love for this community has made possible everything we have accomplished together," he said. He praised city staff and singled out the city manager for leadership.
The ceremony included a short oath/affirmation sequence and a moment of silence later in the meeting in memory of Dylan Adams.
