Cheyenne County commissioners approve appointments, MOU and subdivision exemptions; discuss reduced senior meal funding and crusher purchase

The board, led by Commissioner Ronald Smith, approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) renewal with the Kit Carson County Board of Human Services to allow transfer of belongings stored in a Kit Carson storage unit to a foster home. The board also authorized Kit Carson County Director of Human Services Jennifer Gribble to sign on behalf of Cheyenne County for the Collaborative Management Program and to determine the most appropriate method to transport the property to the foster home.
Under the county’s public health agenda, the board ratified Contract for Ratification 2027*0449 AMD #2 (CORE Immunization Funding). The Board of Public Health heard epidemiology updates noting a West Nile virus case in Jefferson County and rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus in Lincoln County.
The commissioners addressed local services and staffing. The board also considered a road-use agreement amendment request from NextEra Energy Resources to accommodate longer trailers hauling batteries; NextEra agreed to revise the agreement and resend it to the board for approval at a future meeting.
