The Woodstown Borough Council discussed Ordinance 2026-6, which would create a municipal chapter regulating short-term dwelling rental units, and voted to table the item for further professional review.
Solicitor Joseph DiNicola summarized the Planning Board’s rebuttal to the proposed ordinance and recommended additional consultation with Planning Board Solicitor Bill Horner. Councilman Jesse Stemberger and Borough Clerk Patricia Bohren reported differing interpretations of the Planning Board’s opinion, and Zoning Official Erin Maurer described the amount of regulatory work that would be required to implement either a regulatory framework or a prohibition on short-term rentals. After debate, Glenn Merkle moved to table the ordinance for further discussion and review; the motion was seconded by James Hackett and approved by all council members present.
DiNicola said he would continue discussions with Planning Board Solicitor Horner and will forward materials to council for review before the ordinance is revisited.
