Superintendent Michele Pillari reported on district events and instructional work at the Woodland Park Board of Education’s Jan. 13 meeting, highlighting winter concerts, a Read Around the Bases kickoff and the district’s preschool learning activities.
Pillari said teachers in grades 4–8 have been trained in the Just Words intervention for tier‑2 ELA support, the DIBELS testing window is open and midyear writing benchmarks have started. K–8 students are completing midyear i‑Ready math diagnostics and grades 2–8 are finishing Link It! benchmarks aligned to New Jersey Mathematics Standards; results will inform WIN (What I Need) grouping. The Growing Minds classroom at Memorial School planned a field trip to LifeTown to support inclusive, real‑world learning experiences.
Preschool staff thanked the HSA for providing Pillars of Character and Field Day shirts and announced early‑winter registration will open in February, with re‑enrollment materials to be shared in April. The Early Childhood Advisory Council meeting was rescheduled to Feb. 3 at Charles Olbon School with an in‑person option and virtual log‑in.
