Board accepts paraprofessional resignation, approves hires, internships and extracurricular stipends

The Rockaway Borough Board of Education accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Christine DeCagna, effective Feb. 12, 2026, and approved a slate of personnel actions included on the consent agenda.
The board approved Robin Ghebreal as a paraprofessional effective on or about Jan. 30, 2026 through June 30, 2026, at a prorated hourly rate of $17.95 pending completion of required state background and disclosure checks. The board also approved Paul Dylan Jacobus as a substitute paraprofessional for the 2025–2026 school year at a $90 per diem rate, pending required clearances. Administration was authorized to pay Mary Leslie $53.62 for each additional instructional class period assigned beyond six for the remainder of the school year.
The board approved an internship placement for a senior from Parsippany High School to intern with district nurse Denise Jacobus from May 18, 2026 through about June 23, 2026 (15–20 hours per week; total approximately 80 hours). The board approved extracurricular appointments and stipends: Neal Healy as girls softball head coach ($2,174) and Bryanna Dennison as the district’s new webmaster ($2,500).
Additional professional development and travel requests were approved as listed in the packet (examples include attendance at HIB law updates and a Space Symposium covered by grants). All personnel, stipend and trip items were included in the consent agenda and approved in the same roll‑call motion moved by Vice President Jennifer Dahl and seconded by Vanessa Dorgilles; the roll call recorded five ayes.
