Union City council sets new meeting schedule and approves 2025 MMO payment

Union City Borough Council agreed Aug. 13 to shift its regular meeting dates, beginning in September, to the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting was scheduled for Aug. 27, 2024, and, because of Labor Day, the following meeting will be Sept. 16, 2024.
Council also reviewed the borough's 2025 Minimum Municipal Obligation (MMO) for pensions and approved a motion to accept the MMO figures. The required payment for the non-uniform pension was listed as $48,029 and the required payment for the police pension was $0. The motion to approve the MMO for 2024 (as presented) was made by Councilor Joyce and seconded by Councilor Kerns and carried unanimously.
Council adjourned the meeting at 7:06 p.m.; a subsequent executive session on personnel and contract matters ran from 7:06 to 7:52 p.m., during which no action was taken in open session.
