Commissioners authorize prosecutor to draft easement to allow Gentry Lane road work to proceed

The Washington County Board of Commissioners on June 15 authorized Prosecuting Attorney True Pearce to draft and execute a temporary easement over the final section of the Moye property so county road work on Gentry Lane can proceed while lenders finalize title.
Pearce said most parcels for the project are recorded but the final Moye parcel is delayed by a VA loan and Wells Fargo. He recommended a temporary easement that Tanya Moye would sign; the easement would include language protecting the county and note that if lenders later do not permit acquisition, the county could pursue eminent domain as a last resort.
Commissioner Nate Marvin made the motion "that we have the prosecutor draw up that easement" and Commissioner Gordon Wilkerson seconded it. The board voted unanimously—Wilkerson "Aye," Harberd "Aye," Marvin "Aye"—and Harberd announced the motion carried.
Pearce said he will prepare the easement and return it for signatures. The board did not authorize payment for the parcel; Pearce said any compensation would be addressed if the county later acquired fee title.
