Woodstown reports standpipe repair complete; DOT-approved contract and ongoing road designs move forward

At the April 14 meeting Woodstown Borough received updates on utilities and road projects from borough engineers and public works staff.
Engineer Jim Biegen reported that the standpipe roof repair has been completed. He also said the Bertha and Guernsey project contract has been approved by the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the borough is working to secure required performance bonds before the project advances.
Design work on Rose Drive is nearing completion and the design phase for Borton Drive Phase II is in progress; a separate proposal from Sickels & Associates for Borton Drive Phase II engineering services was included on the consent agenda for approval. Public Works Supervisor James Farro raised a question about the borough’s recovery ordinance related to a recent Broad Street incident and whether time spent by Public Works should be reimbursable through private insurance when the work occurs during normal business hours.
Council did not authorize additional capital work at this meeting but recorded project approvals and next steps for bonding and design.
