Woodstown council approves consent items, budget transfers and crosswalk repair quote

The Woodstown Borough Council handled a series of routine administrative and capital items at its March 24 meeting.
On the consent agenda, council approved minutes and items including Resolution 2026-45 (tax cancellation/refund for a totally disabled veteran, Block 15.04 Lot 5), Resolution 2026-46 (designation of depositories of borough funds) and approval for Glasstown Antique Fire Brigade to use Memorial Lake on June 7. Jaclyn Morris moved approval of the consent agenda and Jesse Stemberger seconded; the agenda passed by roll call vote with Councilmember James Hackett recorded as abstaining on item #1 (the March 10 minutes).
In finance business, council approved payment of bills (motion by Heather Bobbitt, seconded by James Hackett) and passed Resolution 2026-47, a transfer of $4,000 between 2025 budget appropriation reserves (motion by Bobbitt, seconded by Jesse Stemberger). Council also approved Resolution 2026-48 authorizing emergency temporary appropriations for the 2026 municipal budget (motion by Bobbitt, seconded by Hackett). All budget items passed by unanimous roll-call votes as recorded in the minutes.
Under streets and roads, council reviewed a quote from Krise Electric Services to repair the pedestrian crosswalk light at Bailey Street and Lotus Avenue and approved the quote, pending certification of funds by the CFO, not to exceed $2,800 (motion by Bertha Hyman, seconded by Jesse Stemberger).
Council discussed the Borton Drive Phase II project and decided to proceed with the full scope originally planned; the design phase has not started and the project must be under contract by the first week of November 2026.
Chief DeFalco reported the Police Department had received 10 applications for the available position and would accept applications through March 31, 2026. Deputy Clerk Erin Maurer said she will meet with Comcast on March 25 to resolve account issues.
Public Works Supervisor James Farro said collapse repairs behind the public works building are almost completed and paving will wait for ground settlement; Acting Foreman Jeffrey Fredo reported grills for Watson’s Park have been installed. Jesse Stemberger said the engineer is working on design for Watson’s Park improvements under the Small Cities Grant; an electronic recycling container was received and information will be shared with residents.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. on a motion by Jesse Stemberger, seconded by James Hackett.
