Woodland Park Board appoints interim business administrator, hires ELA teacher and approves temporary business services contract

The Woodland Park Board of Education on Jan. 27 voted unanimously to appoint Vincent Occhino as interim business administrator, hire an ELA teacher and approve a temporary contract for business office services.
The board approved a resolution appointing Vincent Occhino as Interim Business Administrator at a rate of $700 per diem for up to two days per week (eight hours per day), effective Feb. 3, 2025 through on or about June 30, 2025. The motion was made by Board member Shannon Marren and seconded by Board member Julissa Rodriguez; the roll call vote was 8–0 in favor.
The board also approved the appointment of Brittany Davis as an ELA teacher at Bear Grove (listed as BG in the minutes), converting her from a long-term substitute to a full teacher appointment at MA, Step 1, with a salary of $67,010 prorated, effective Feb. 1, 2025. The motion was made by Board member Mark Salemi, seconded by Board member Gina McQuin, and passed on an 8–0 roll call.
Separately, the board ratified home instruction for student ID#34003, effective Jan. 16, 2025 until further notice, at a rate of $47 per hour. Assigned providers listed in the minutes were Rosemary Ficarra (Reading and Writing), Lori McCluskey (Social Studies), Mina Chang (Science) and Krystina Reilly (Math). The ratification motion was made by Marren and seconded by Salemi; the roll call vote was 8–0.
The board accepted the resignation of part-time aide Jared Weaver, effective Jan. 17, 2025. That motion was made by Gina McQuin, seconded by Kim Galbraith, and approved 8–0.
On finance matters the board approved a temporary contract with School Office Solutions, LLC to provide business office services from Feb. 3, 2025 through on or about June 30, 2025 at a rate of $150 per hour. The motion was made by Kim Galbraith and seconded by Joe Giammarella; the roll call vote was 8–0.
The board moved into executive session at 7:08 p.m. to discuss personnel, litigation and/or contract matters and returned to public session at 7:42 p.m. The executive session minutes note that the superintendent discussed HIB case numbers 2025-25, 2025-26 and 2025-27; the minutes state confidentiality will be maintained while required. The meeting was adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
