The Woodland Park Board of Education unanimously approved a package of personnel actions at its March 2, 2026 workshop meeting, including the acceptance of two teacher retirements and two settlement agreements with former employees.
In a roll-call vote recorded as 8–0, the board accepted the retirement of Jeanine Chiaravalloti, a district teacher of 25 years, and Cindy Guariglia, a district teacher of 18 years, both effective June 30, 2026. The personnel package was approved on a motion by Julissa Rodriguez, seconded by Andrew Mingione.
The board also ratified transfers and leaves: it ratified the transfer of Eileen Cieslak (CO to ECC, 2/17/26–4/14/26) and ratified medical leave under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act for Cara DeAngelis (2/17/26–4/14/26) using accumulated sick/personal days with an expected return on 4/15/26. The board ratified paid administrative leave for employee ID #4004, effective Feb. 20, 2026, until further notice.
Two settlement approvals were included in the personnel motion. The board approved a settlement in the matter of former employee ID #4865, listing the State of New Jersey Office of Administrative Law Docket Number EDU 19978-2025 and Agency Reference Number 357-10/25, and authorized the Superintendent, Business Administrator and Board Attorney to take actions necessary to effectuate the settlement. The board also approved a settlement with former employee ID #4683 and authorized the Board President, Superintendent, Business Administrator and Board Attorney to execute the agreement. Both settlements were approved as part of the personnel vote; the agenda lists the settlement approvals as resolutions 226-249 and 226-250.
Also under personnel, the board approved a resolution authorizing Dr. Michele Pillari to teach education courses at Brookdale Community College on weekends or during vacation time and to retain any honoraria paid for that work.
According to the executive session minutes published with the packet, the board discussed a personnel matter and two settlement matters in closed session and noted Superintendent discussion of additional HIB cases (2026-21, 2026-22 and 2026-23). The minutes state those matters will be made public when confidentiality is no longer required.
The board previewed items to be voted on at its March 16 regular meeting but recorded no further action in the workshop. The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 p.m.
