The Winfield Township Committee adopted Ordinance No. 467 on Sept. 3, 2024, revising the township's alternate-side parking rules and opting to update existing signage with stickers, Mayor Byrne said.
The ordinance was taken up for public discussion at 7:03 p.m. Resident Debra Weiss asked about a suggestion made after the last meeting that the township could save money by changing signs. Mayor Byrne said the township will "be using stickers on the signs to change." Resident Barbara Makowski asked how residents would be notified of the change; Mayor Byrne said the change "will be posted on our website," and Acting Township Clerk Melanie Slowik said "a flyer will go out to inform of update." No other members of the public spoke during the comment period.
On the motion to adopt, Commissioner Reilly moved and Commissioner Koomer seconded; the motion passed with all members present voting in the affirmative. The committee provided no additional details in the meeting minutes about the specific timing for sticker placement or the text of the updated parking rules beyond the ordinance title and its adoption.
The ordinance modifies prior alternate-side parking rules (amending Ordinance Nos. 283 and 267 as referenced in the meeting agenda). Officials said resident notification will be via the township website and a mailed flyer; the minutes do not specify the date the flyers will be distributed or the exact wording of the signs. The committee recessed to consider other business after the vote.
