Winfield advances alternate‑side parking and stormwater control ordinances to second reading

The Winfield Township Committee moved two ordinances forward on first reading during its Aug. 19 meeting.
Ordinance #467, which amends prior rules on alternate‑side parking (listed as amending Ordinances #283 and #267 in the minutes), was approved as a draft, taken up on first reading by title, read by title and passed on first reading after a motion by Commissioner Reilly and a second by Commissioner Koomer. A motion to schedule the ordinance for second and final reading and adoption at the committee’s Sept. 3, 2024 meeting carried unanimously.
Ordinance #468, the Stormwater Control Ordinance (SCO), similarly had its draft approved, was taken up on first reading by title, read by title and passed on first reading following the same motions and unanimous assent. The minutes show that the committee scheduled both ordinances for second reading at the Sept. 3 meeting.
During Citizen’s Forum, resident John Makowski asked that the parking ordinance be read aloud; Mayor Byrne read additional details from the ordinance at that request. Resident Karen Attlesey asked where residents could find approved bills, resolutions and ordinances; Clerk Slowik said the agenda and materials are posted on the Township website and copies are available on the meeting table.
Both ordinances must return to the Township Committee for second and final reading before becoming law.
