Rochelle Park Board authorizes application for roughly $100,000 state recreation grant to upgrade school field and playground

The Rochelle Park Board of Education voted Jan. 28 to authorize an application for a Local Recreation Improvement Grant from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, estimated at approximately $100,000.
President Scott Kral explained the project would support improvements to the Rochelle Park school field, construction of a bocce court for the school team and replacement of aging playground equipment that dates to the 1990s and for which replacement parts are no longer available. "Parts are no longer available," Kral said, describing the current equipment as purchased by the PTA in the 1990s. The resolution authorizes district officials to accept a different grant amount if offered and empowers the superintendent and business administrator to sign the application and any subsequent agreement.
The board approved the LRIG application and authorized Superintendent Sue DeNobile and Business Administrator Michele Rainere to execute required documents. If awarded, funds will be expended under the terms of the grant agreement and the board will return with the fully executed agreement and project details for implementation.
