Rochelle Park board signs off on school trips, anti-bullying assembly and gifted testing plans

At the Nov. 19 meeting the Rochelle Park Board of Education approved several curriculum and program items for the 2024–25 school year, including class trips for grade levels to events such as Bergen PAC and Dorney Park, multiple field trips funded from student activities, and professional development attendance for identified staff.
The board approved an anti-bullying assembly by guest presenter Basketball Jim Jones on Nov. 21 for two assemblies (K–4 and grades 5–8) funded by the Midland School PTO. Principal Dr. Courtney Carmichael said students in grades 3–6 will take the CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) in the coming weeks for gifted-and-talented identification; she stated this testing is funded by Federal Title funds.
Other curriculum items included continuing professional development in January and February, expansion of a Kinetic classroom full-day session, and acknowledgement of NJQSAC results that required a District Improvement Plan for Instruction and Program.
