The Rochelle Park Board of Education approved a sidebar amendment to the collective negotiations agreement Oct. 29 to add stipends for Special Olympics coaches and assistants and approved coach appointments for the 2024–25 season.
The resolution amended Schedule G of the extra-curricular salary guide to include a Special Olympics Coach for Bowling and Bocce at $1,635 and a Special Olympics Assistant Coach at $1,193. The motion (A2) passed on a recorded roll-call vote. Superintendent Dr. Sue DeNobile and board members praised the district’s ability to support expanded extracurricular inclusion.
Separately, the personnel slate (P3) listed coach and advisor stipends including Jessica Cohen as Special Olympics Coach ($1,635) and Danielle Manzetti as Special Olympics Assistant Coach ($1,193) for the 2024–25 season; those appointments were approved by the board.
Board member Christina Holz commented she was proud the district could provide the coach stipend. Dr. DeNobile said the arrangement will allow expansion of Bocce and Bowling teams and noted the RPEA agreement supports the change.
The board approved the sidebar and the appointments by roll call; no additional funding source beyond existing district budgets was specified at the meeting.
