At its June 8 meeting, the Woodstown Borough Council unanimously approved two public-safety and streets actions.
On a motion by Councilmember Bertha Hyman, seconded by Jesse Stemberger, the council declared repairs to the flashing crosswalk at Bailey Street and Lotus Avenue a public-safety emergency and authorized an expenditure not to exceed $10,000 to proceed. The deputy clerk was tasked with obtaining additional warranty and replacement information from the quoted vendor, Krise Electric Services, before work proceeds.
Council also addressed an ongoing nuisance at 51 Lotus Avenue. Members reviewed quotes for brush and tree removal and, on a motion by Hyman seconded by Stemberger, approved a quote from Melnyk's Tree Service contingent on the property’s responsible parties failing to take required action by Friday, June 12. The motion passed by unanimous roll call.
Engineer Erik Biermann separately reported that NJDOT issued revisions for the Rose Drive project and that contractor Landberg has started work on Bertha and Guernsey streets.
All motions were recorded as passing by unanimous roll call among members present (Hyman, Morris, Hackett, Stemberger and Merkle).
