Engineer Erik Biermann told the Woodstown Borough Council that the borough had been awarded a recreation grant to install a dock at Memorial Lake, but that the grant does not cover the full cost of the project and the installation will require a permit from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. Biermann said he will investigate scaling the project so the grant covers a larger share of costs.
Council also discussed Green Acres property on Alloway Road; Solicitor DiNicola recommended following up with Pilesgrove Township because the issue involves lands on both sides of municipal boundaries. The council recorded upcoming community events: the Joint Environmental Commission’s Spring Cleanup on May 9, 2026, and a report that the Salem County Film Festival went well.
Earlier in the meeting council approved two park use requests for Watson’s Park and a request from the IKE Foundation to host a Kids Fishing Event at Memorial Lake; those permits were part of the consent agenda approved by the council.
What happens next: Engineer Biermann will examine scaled design options to increase grant coverage; staff will pursue necessary NJDEP permits and any intermunicipal coordination with Pilesgrove Township.
