Committee addresses illegal dumping and rental-registration gaps, votes to enter closed session on contract negotiations and potential property sale

The Woodland Township Committee discussed ongoing trash- and dumping-related complaints and rental-registration shortfalls and then voted to enter closed session to discuss contract negotiations and a potential sale of township property.

Under old business, members described two separate dumping cases on the highway and in a different neighborhood; several members said prior warnings had been issued and that a formal notice would be sent to the homeowner because tenant contact information was not on file. The clerk said the township will "write up the property owner for, not the tenant," and members discussed possible enforcement steps ranging from letters to rescinding dump privileges for repeat offenders.

Committee members reported DPW follow-up, on-site checks, and that a DPW worker and a Mr. Boyd had inspected properties. The committee also flagged contractors seen depositing materials from vans as an enforcement problem requiring monitoring.

Later the clerk read Resolution 24-71, authorizing the committee to enter closed session pursuant to the Open Public Meetings Act to discuss "any contract negotiation other than collective bargaining" and attorney–client privileged matters related to a potential sale of township property. A motion to enter closed session was made and seconded; the roll call recorded affirmative responses from Mayor DeGroff, Mister Herndon and Miss Ma, and the committee prepared to meet in closed session immediately after passage of the resolution.

No substantive decisions about the property sale or contract negotiations were announced in open session; the resolution states minutes will be released when confidentiality is no longer required.
