The Woodstown Borough Council approved emergency repairs Feb. 24 after Public Works reported a ground collapse behind the Public Works building.
Public Works Supervisor James Farro told council the collapse involved a failed 42-inch discharge pipe roughly 15 to 25 feet in length that created a sinkhole behind the building. Engineer Erik Biermann and Farro discussed emergency-repair options. Council approved a motion to authorize emergency repairs; the motion was made by James Hackett and seconded by Bertha Hyman and passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Separately, Mike Quinnette, identified in the minutes as representing WBMUA, advised the borough that water bills would be mailed in April and that billing will move to a quarterly cycle; Quinnette said increases and excess charges would be billed quarterly and that an explanatory notice will accompany the bills. The minutes record that Engineer Biermann also said T-Mobile had decided not to install a generator at the base of the water tower.
The minutes do not list the estimated cost of the emergency repairs, an expected repair timeline, or the vendor performing the work. Council directed staff and the engineer to proceed with repairs under the emergency authorization.
