MIDDLEVILLE — At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Middleville Village Council approved routine consent business, several event permits, an update to economic development strategy documents and a subscription service for ordinance codification.
Consent agenda: The council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes of the July 22 regular meeting and bills for Aug. 6, 2025 totaling $1,888,688.98. The motion passed by roll call.
Event permits: The council approved an event-permit application for the annual TK homecoming parade after staff confirmed insurance and barricade plans and assurance that barricades would be manned. The council also approved a Boy Scout recruiting event permit for a downtown pavilion event presented by Victor Humphrey; the Boy Scout event will include stations teaching first-aid skills and basic camping demonstrations and will use Rotary support for food safety.
Economic development strategy: Staff presented updates to the village’s economic development strategies, emphasizing business retention, infill development and annual updates through 2027. The council approved the proposed updates and next steps.
CivicPlus subscription: Staff recommended switching to a CivicPlus subscription for municipal code/ordinance codification, arguing it would lower costs given planned ordinance work; the council approved the first-year subscription in the amount of $2,218.
