State legislators honor University City Manager Gregory Rose ahead of Feb. 6 retirement

Multiple council members and city stakeholders echoed the praise during council reports. Michael Alter, owner of Fitz's and vice chair of the LSBD, thanked Rose for his partnership with local business and the Loop. Several council members highlighted infrastructure upgrades, extensive community engagement efforts (notably the third-ward revitalization), and emergency responses (two floods and a tornado) as major achievements under Rose's leadership.
Next steps: Rose's retirement is effective Feb. 6; the council will proceed with next steps in the city manager transition process and staff will coordinate recognition and any required administrative changes.
