Urich board enacts ordinance calling April 7 election and approves fiscal-year budget amendment

The Urich Board of Aldermen voted unanimously Oct. 21 to adopt a budget amendment and to enact an ordinance calling a municipal election on April 7, 2026.

Resolution #2024-2025-02, presented to the board in advance of the meeting and read aloud by City Clerk Heather Hill, was approved following a motion and second. The board then proceeded to the first and second readings of Bill #2025-05; after the second reading the board approved the bill and it was enacted as Ordinance #2025-10-21.

The actions were procedural and supported by unanimous voice votes. The meeting record shows motions and seconds for the resolution and the ordinance (movers and seconders recorded in the minutes) and that Mayor Randy Vogt stated the motions passed with all present voting "yea." No amendments to the ordinance text or the resolution were recorded at the meeting.

Members also approved routine items on the consent side of the agenda: minutes from the Sept. 16, 2025 meeting, the September 2025 financial report and payment of the bills. The City Clerk presented records eligible for destruction under the local retention schedule for the audited 2019–2022 years; the board voted to approve destruction of applicable records.

Why it matters: enacting the ordinance sets a municipal election date that will trigger local election preparations and any candidate filings required under state and local rules; the budget amendment adjusts the city’s fiscal-year plan for revenues and expenditures. The meeting listed a possible closed-session adjournment under Missouri’s Section 610.021 (litigation, real estate, personnel, contracts) but no motion was made to go into closed session.

The board took no public comment at the meeting. The City Clerk and staff will carry out implementation steps for the budget amendment, records destruction and the election schedule as required by city practice and applicable statutes.
