Bedminster committee introduces 11 ordinances, approves fireworks and community permits

The Bedminster Township Committee on May 19 voted to introduce 11 ordinances that together fund a series of facility upgrades and equipment purchases and set a public hearing for June 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.
The ordinances include: appropriation of $5,000 for building access control upgrades (2025003); $100,000 for facility improvements across police, public works and town hall (2025004); $46,240 for police equipment (2025005); firefighting equipment appropriations of $9,000 and $41,600 for two volunteer fire companies (2025006 and 2025007); $7,564.50 for first-aid-squad equipment (2025008); $50,000 for HVAC replacement and upgrades (2025009); $5,000 for telephone equipment (2025010); $15,000 for repeater equipment for emergency management (2025011); a residential rental lead‑based paint inspection regulation ordinance (2025012); and a bond ordinance authorizing $631,000 in bonds as part of a $665,000 appropriation to acquire a tanker truck and other equipment for the Clark Hills Bedminster Fire Department (2025013).
Committee members also approved a package of permits and raffles on the consent agenda, including two fireworks permits for Hamilton Farm Golf Club (June 7 and July 2, 2025), social affair and raffle permits for Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club and community fundraising raffles for local nonprofits, and a special‑use permit allowing extended farmers‑market signage from May through December 2025.
A roll call to introduce ordinances 2025003–2025013 recorded affirmative responses from the committee; the items will return for public hearing and final vote at the June 2 meeting. The committee also approved the consent permit items by motion.
The ordinances, if adopted after public hearing, will authorize the listed appropriations and, in the case of the bond ordinance, the issuance of bonds or notes to finance capital purchases. The committee did not take final adoption votes at the May 19 meeting; those would occur after the scheduled public hearings and any required second readings.
