Millington board reviews zoning complaints, agrees next steps and to issue Parker permit if appropriate

Millington Township’s zoning administrator reported several active zoning complaints and raised a permit question for a Parker parcel during the March 17 meeting. The board set enforcement steps and clarified how to proceed with the permit.
The ZA identified files 2024-01, 2024-004, 2024-033, 2024-035 and 2024-039 and brought the Parker permit (parcel ID 017-007-170-0700-00) to the board’s attention. Supervisor Loomis stated the Parker permit should be issued because the parcel is in a platted subdivision; Loomis said he would investigate updating the zoning map to reflect R‑1 rather than AR and that if that line of inquiry fails the township would issue a variance.
The board agreed unanimously to close complaints 2024-001 and 2024-004. For file 2024-033 the board authorized the ZA to involve the sheriff’s office to contact the property owner. The board agreed to give Mr. Zavitz additional time to clean up the property under complaint 2024-035 and directed the ZA to take the next enforcement step (sending a deputy) regarding file 2024-039. The ZA also reported that complaint 2025-001 has been resolved.
