Millington trustees to use MTA templates, consider battery-storage rules in solar ordinance update

Trustee L. Jaruzel and Zoning Administrator Daenzer told the board on Oct. 21 that they conferred with Adam Young of Wade Trim and participated in a Michigan Township Association webinar about local solar ordinances. The guidance reported to the board was to generally retain Millington’s current ordinance, which is considered workable, and to consider whether to add a separate battery-storage ordinance.
Jaruzel said Michigan Township Association templates for a solar ordinance are expected soon; the board agreed to work with Wade Trim and adapt the template to Millington Township’s needs. The minutes note a statutory deadline for any amendment to the solar ordinance of Nov. 29, 2024.
No formal ordinance amendment was adopted at the meeting; the board directed staff and trustees to continue work with the consultant and Planning Commission to prepare any draft changes for future consideration.
