Sherry and Mark Morris told the Millington Township Board on Oct. 21 that items were added to their approved special land use permit after it was approved by the Planning Commission. Sherry Morris read a letter describing the family’s experience during the special land use process and said they noticed additions to the permit that were not presented during the Planning Commission review.
Mark Morris asked specifically how requirements such as twice-yearly inspections by the Supervisor, annual review of the special land use permit and proof of liability insurance were included when those conditions were not discussed at the Planning Commission meeting. Supervisor R. Loomis said the board would need time to look into why the additional conditions were included.
The Morrises also questioned how the Zoning Administrator’s $100 stipend for enforcement is handled. The board clarified that the $100 stipend is paid only when the Zoning Administrator pursues enforcement beyond sending warnings or notices; if a violation is paid and corrected after a notice, the township retains the fee and the ZA does not receive the stipend.
The board did not take immediate action on the Morris family’s complaint during the meeting and committed to follow up to determine how the permit language was altered after Planning Commission approval.
