Montrose council approves CPR/AED training and emergency training site use

The Montrose City Council on Nov. 26 authorized CPR and AED training for staff and approved use of the city DPW garage as a training site for MMR emergency courses.
Interim City Manager Bob Naumann told the council that staff certification is required and that classes are limited to 12 people per session; the certification lasts two years. The council adopted a resolution authorizing CPR/AED training and later approved scheduling classes on Dec. 12 and Dec. 19, 2024.
Naumann also said the city must enter a formal agreement to allow MMR to use the DPW garage for emergency course training scheduled for Dec. 7; council approved entering into that agreement by roll call.
Councilmember Ryan Heslop asked that staff obtain a cost comparison for training providers, citing the Red Cross as an example. The motions to authorize the training, approve the class dates and to enter into the MMR property-use agreement passed with all members recorded as voting Aye in the meeting minutes.
The approvals cover scheduling and venue for training; the record does not list class participants or explicit training fees. Council directed staff to finalize logistics and provide further cost information if alternate providers are considered.
