Montrose waives Depot fee for Lion’s Club event, approves one annual free employee rental

During public comment Jerry Whitney asked the council to rent the Depot for the Lion’s Club meeting. Councilmember Todd Pangle moved to approve the request and waive the fee; the roll-call vote recorded Pangle, Andrea Martin, Robert Arnold and Mayor Colleen Brown voting Aye and the motion carried.
Separately, DPW Supervisor Sam Spence asked to rent the Depot free of charge in October. The council approved Sam’s request and directed City Manager Rankin to have the incoming city manager add a policy to the employee handbook allowing one free rental a year for the Depot and/or city parks.
The council’s action establishes the ad hoc waiver for the July 21 event and signals a future formal employee-policy change to be placed in the handbook by the new city manager.
