The Gonzales Mayor and City Council approved two special-event permits after adding the items to the agenda: a Saks pop-up event scheduled for May 9 and an annual Biomat Cinco de Mayo event.
Jada Bierman said she would plan and market the Saks event; owner Miss Kay Robert and store manager Kayla Lathers confirmed vendors will set tents and tables and that a traffic barrier will be provided by GPD. The council moved to approve the permit; a roll-call vote recorded unanimous Yes votes among members present.
For the Biomat event, an organizer identified as Luby Bierman said the annual event includes tents and music and that coordination with the chief was complete. Council approved that permit by roll call.
Both events were presented as not impeding roadways and with public-safety coordination reported to be in place.
