Avon swears in two new police officers at June 25 meeting

The chief said Sjack studied sociology at Northern Illinois University and lives in Hendricks County with his wife.
The chief also introduced Officer Jacob Redmond, who graduated from Danville Community High School and completed United States Army training at Fort Leonard Wood. Redmond remains an active member of the Indiana Army National Guard and has earned multiple service awards; he previously worked as an electrician.
Superior Court 2 Judge Red Stewart administered the oaths and addressed the new officers. He urged them to treat people with respect and dignity in their interactions with the public and to prioritize safety, saying officers should "come home safe at the end of the day." After the remarks, Judge Stewart administered the oath of office to each officer, who affirmed to enforce ordinances and laws and to perform duties impartially for the Avon Police Department.
The council returned to its regular agenda after the ceremony.
