Board approves January budget revision; routine consent items pass

The Mt. Pleasant Public Schools Board approved a January budget revision on Jan. 20 and advanced several routine consent items.
Finance staff told the board that the January revision reflects the removal of an expected foundation-allowance increase of about $674,500, a reduction of approximately 38 blended FTE in pupil count, and a $2 million audit-related set-aside tied to tribal-grant timing. The presenter said those adjustments produced a projected January revision showing a $1.9 million ending fund balance after a projected $3.7 million draw to fund balance during the fiscal year (figures are preliminary and subject to further revision at the June budget update).
The board took a roll-call vote to approve the January budget provision for the 2024-25 school year. The roll call recorded yes responses from board members; the transcript notes recorded "yes" replies (Madison and Isaac were recorded by name), and the presiding official announced the motion passed. The transcript did not include the full enumerated tally for all members.
Other consent actions approved during the meeting included acceptance of minutes, approval of bills, acceptance of resignations and retirements, and routine personnel appointments. The board accepted the resignation of Britney Taylor (special-education teacher), recognized the retirement of Jennifer Panski after long service, and welcomed Amanda Wilkinson as a special-education teacher at McGuire. The board also accepted a $100 donation from Foundation for Our Communities and approved two overnight fifth-grade field trips (camp proposals) with assurances that fundraisers and fee waivers will ensure all students can attend.
The board approved the items on motion and voice votes where indicated; finance staff said a more comprehensive budget revision will return for the customary June consideration once state aid and other adjustments are final.
