Public health hires, billing revenue and staffing challenges noted; executive session held with no action

Hillary Mulley, director of Big Horn County Public Health, introduced Kindy Krie as the new Lovell nurse at the Oct. 21 commission meeting and said Kindy’s experience and training are progressing well.
Mulley told commissioners that recently approved home‑visit billing is generating good revenue for the department. She said that interviews for a replacement nurse in Greybull are ongoing but that county and state pay scales are less competitive than private‑sector wages, which is limiting applicant interest. Mulley said the benefit and work‑life balance attract some candidates despite lower pay.
Mulley requested an executive session to discuss personnel; Commissioner Bruce Jolley moved to go into executive session, the motion was seconded and carried. The minutes record that the session adjourned with no action taken.
Mulley also noted that Public Health Emergency Response Coordinator D. Calvin is attending a conference now that full grant funding has been approved; Mulley said Calvin’s attendance follows the grant award and training needs.
