The Mount Pleasant Public Schools Board of Education conducted routine business in its Aug. 19, 2024 meeting, approving a five-year strategic plan and an updated Oasis student handbook and taking several personnel and financial actions.
Consent-agenda items included approval of the Aug. 5 minutes and monthly bills; motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The treasurer reported a general-fund cash balance of $10.0 million on June 30, July receipts of $8.6 million, disbursements of $6.4 million and a July 31 balance of $12.2 million. The capital projects fund reported a June 30 balance of $23.5 million with interest income near $948,000 and July disbursements of roughly $4.0 million.
On personnel, the board accepted resignations from Aon Kiter (Gitch Center) and Stacy Dexter (middle school) and approved several hires across the district; motions passed on voice votes. Board members also highlighted upcoming open houses and training opportunities and thanked staff for preparations at the start of school.
The board unanimously approved the strategic plan and the Oasis handbook by voice vote; minutes record the motions as 'all in favor.'
