The Hobart Redevelopment Commission approved several project and payment items March 16, including a change order for an electrical connection on the Colorado tracking project, a roundabout payment and the register of claims covering multiple invoices.
A project presenter explained Change Order No. 9 addresses a directional bore to reach a junction box after a utility (Nipsco) relocated a service pole; the amount discussed in the meeting was approximately $6,688.02. The presenter told the board the overall project is about $64,000 under budget, and members approved the change order so work could continue.
The board also approved payment #1 for a roundabout improvement project; members discussed that most work was completed but minor items remain and approved the payment amount reported as $253,350 by voice vote.
In addition, the register of claims and invoices was presented with a total near $280,409.46, covering items such as pre-filter station upgrades, engineering support and an ALTA survey connected to the Greenwood Center purchase. Board members moved and approved the register. Several bond requisitions (including requisitions referenced as Nos. 76 and 77) were considered and approved individually.
Speakers cautioned that landscaping for roundabouts should be low-maintenance to avoid shifting upkeep to park or public works departments, and staff noted they would continue to manage outstanding minor work items until projects are closed out.
