WYDOT staff hears county safety requests for Raiden Bridge crossing and Hwy 30 merge

WYDOT staff briefed the Big Horn County Commission on Jan. 6 that STIP (State Transportation Improvement Program) public meetings are moving from July to January so they better align with the state planning and budget cycle. The presentation invited county input on local priorities for the STIP window.
During the presentation, WYDOT staff (identified in the minutes as Bridges) highlighted two local safety concerns the county asked the department to consider: a problematic railroad crossing at the Raiden Bridge that should be addressed alongside planned bridge replacement, and the corner of Highway 30 and Lane 40 to Meeteetse outside Burlington, where officials asked WYDOT to evaluate converting the merge into a T intersection because rising traffic has made the merge a growing safety concern.
Commissioners and staff requested WYDOT follow up on those items as part of the STIP schedule change; the minutes record the county raising the issues to WYDOT staff for further review.
