Big Horn County accepts Assessor Gina Anderson’s resignation and declares vacancy under state statute

Big Horn County Commissioners voted Jan. 6 to accept the retirement/resignation letter from County Assessor Gina Anderson and to declare the office vacant under Wyoming State Statute 22-1811 (ii). County Clerk Lori Smallwood presented Anderson’s letter; Commissioner Dave Neves moved to accept it, the motion was seconded and carried.
The board instructed Clerk Smallwood to immediately notify the Republican Party chair as specified in the statute and to begin the vacancy-replacement procedures outlined by state law. Chair Deb Craft presented a plaque of appreciation to Anderson and the commission held a brief reception honoring her service.
No further action on the appointment was taken at the meeting; the statutes and the party notification will govern the next steps.
