Rumson-Fair Haven board approves personnel items, new curricula and Spring crew agreement with Borough of Rumson

The Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School Board of Education on March 18 approved grouped personnel and education items and authorized an interlocal agreement with the Borough of Rumson for a Spring crew program.
Personnel approvals included the appointment of spring curriculum writers (listed by course and hours), acceptance of the resignation of Claudia Simon, Special Education Teacher, effective May 12, 2025, ratification of changes to leaves of absence, appointment of substitutes for the 2024–2025 school year, and approval of volunteer assistant coaching positions for softball and boys lacrosse. These personnel items (agenda items #2–7) were approved on a motion by Mr. Grant, seconded by Mrs. Kiley, and passed by unanimous roll-call vote.
Under education items, the board approved field trips (including a March 21 Spanish exchange to Philadelphia and an April 24 AP language trip to New York City), fundraising activities (e.g., Flag Football clothing fundraiser and SGA car wash), home instruction arrangements with listed providers and hourly rates, and a revised Statistics and Probability curriculum. The board also approved a new United States History I and II textbook (US History Interactive, Savvas) and voted to affirm the Superintendent’s recommendation on HIB Investigation FY 2024-2025-3 as previously reported on March 4, 2025. These education items (#19–24) were approved on a motion by Mr. Page, seconded by Mr. Grant, by unanimous roll call.
The board authorized an agreement between the Boroughs of Rumson and Fair Haven and the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School to host a Spring crew team in 2025 and to lease Borough-owned equipment. The agreement stipulates the Borough will reimburse the Board $23,055.89 for the hiring and management of coaching staff for the Spring season. The resolution authorizes the Board President and Business Administrator/Board Secretary to sign the agreement.
Board members who voted Yes on these grouped personnel and education items were Mr. Dougherty, Mrs. Kiley, Mrs. Romano, Mr. Grant, Mrs. McGinty, Mrs. Thompson, Mrs. Hickey, Mr. Page and Mrs. Whitehouse.
